Internal NTP Server Configuration


NTP servers are essential to the proper functioning of the internet and all linked computer systems. The public NTP server associated with your DefenseStorm Virtual Machine synchronizes time on all your systems to assist with accurate log analysis and the functionality of two-factor authentication devices. To switch from the default public NTP server to an internal server, follow these general steps below.  

NTP Configuration

Note: Since the exact configuration is dependent on the operating system, the steps below are a generic example. Open a Connect ticket if additional assistance is required.   

  1. Edit /etc/ntp.conf
  2. Comment out all server lines
  3. Add server line for local server:
    1. server prefer iburst
  4. Restart NTP Service
  5. Test it
    1. ntpq -cpe -cas
